Army Surplus stores can be found in many towns and cities. They originally started out as outlets for surplus military equipment. This included equipment and clothing the armed forces no longer required, either due to over-stocking or insufficient quality. They have a tendency to turn into generic outdoors shops, stocking more commercial products such as camping and hiking equipment. The equipment stocked in Army Surplus stores varies from store to store, from combat boots to flak jackets. They are a fantastic source of relatively low-priced combat clothing and equipment such as webbing. Obviously, used equipment is usually cheaper than new.
