Bergen

Military backpack/rucksack, so named because the originals came from Norway (Bergen).

The British Army are issued the Infantry Bergen which comes in two forms - long and short back. Preferred option is usually the short back as it allows better integration with the issue webbing. There is also the older 'All Arms Bergen' which was issued previosuly to non-infantry personal. This can be often found on surplus sites but is generally regarded as a poorer option than the infantry bergen.
