Electric Blow Back
From Airsoft Community Wiki
Generally running off of a set of 4 AA batteries, these are the cheaper alternative to a GBB.
The batteries are inserted (normally) into the grip, with a very thin magazine sitting in front of this. for every pull of the trigger, the round is fired, and the slide pulled back and released.
EBB's generally are not held in high regard, and are seen as a tool for plinking more than anything. The reasons for this are that they normally have a very low power, about .5J, which can be matched by most high end springers, they feel very much like a springer, quality wise, and the mags are hard to source spares for and to carry.
EBB's can be seen as a respectable entry level side arm for CQB senario's, as the sidearm is not used a great deal outside of pistols only games, and the ranges aren't much to worry about.
NB: EBB's should not be confused with AEP's which are usually of a much higher standard
