Fire Selection
From Airsoft Community Wiki
Every AEG has a switch on side of its reciever. This switch is used to change the state of the gun from Safe, Fully Automatic, Semi Automatic and 3 Shot Burst.

Safe
The safety switch is obviously there to keep the gun safe. Every single gun has one. When the safe is engaged then no actions in the gun will work and often the trigger is also locked.
Full Automatic
Full auto is most commonly used with airsoft guns. M249 SAW or Minimi is full auto only and the only switch on it is the safety. Full auto allows a person to hold down the trigger and let the gun do the work.
Semi Automatic
Semi auto is standard on almost every AEG along with full auto. The PSG1 has only semi auto and safety as its only selections. Semi auto is when the person will have pull the trigger for each shoot.
3 Shot Burst
3 shot burst has only been brought out in Tokyo Mauri's Type 89 Rifle. Although the Marui Sig 550/551 did incorporate a similar, somewhat unrealiable, system. This selected fire means that with on trigger pull the gun shoots three BB's.
