M14
From Airsoft Community Wiki
Real Steel
The M14 was a battle rifle developped by the USA after WW2. It was an evolution of the M1 Garand, along with the advantages of the Browning Assault Rifle (7.62mm Cartridge) and M1 Carbine (Detachable Box Magazine). In Vietnam it was superseeded by the lighter M16. Recent complaints about the lack of stopping power of the 5.56x45 round, especially when fired from the short barrel M4 carbines currently favoured, have led to M14's being returned to service in a designated marksman type role.
Versions
There are a number of M14 variants currently released:
- Tokyo Marui - available in Wood Effect or Olive Drab versions.
- Tokyo Mauri / G&G
M1A SOCOM, a shortened version of the standard M14 with a black stock.
- Star - SOPMOD M14.
There are also versions that have a scope mount fitted and conversion kits.
Rate of Fire
Tokyo Marui, AGM, and Kart have a rate of fire of around 800rpm with an 8.4v battery. G&G and Star manage around 900-1000rpm with a 9.6v battery.
