Skirmish

The most commonly played kind of Airsoft game alongside an Event, a Skirmish is usually played over several hours on a weekend day, or sometimes a week night, as a series of unconnected games with a variety of objectives.

The games are simple one team vs. another (e.g. - Red Vs. Blue) games, with such goals as the location and capture of a flag, barrel, or other artefact (or sometimes multiple artefacts) before the other team, finding an individual representing a pilot or government official before the other team, assaulting a position held by the other team such as a village, and sometimes other less common games, such as 'pistols only' or semi-auto weapons only.

Games often take place in wooded locations for Skirmish games, though there are sites that cater to urban or FIBUA game days too, which sometimes often have a wider variety of game types during a day.

Most Skirmish sites and days offer rentals of AEG's and combat clothing to first-time and new players for a day as part of their services, and also offer hot and cold drinks and snacks all day, as well as a barbecue or other lunch. Many sites also have an onsite shop where players can buy 'consumables' such as gas, BB's, and pyrotechnics, and charge AEG batteries. Some also have larger shops where airsoft guns and accessories can be purchased.
